Trade Assurance is Alibaba’s free buyer-protection program, and it is the main reason ordering from an unknown supplier is safer than it sounds. It works as an escrow: your payment is held by Alibaba and only released to the supplier once the agreed delivery conditions are met.

The parts that matter in practice:

• Only covers online orders paid through Alibaba.com. Paying a supplier by wire transfer outside the platform removes protection entirely, which is exactly why a risky supplier might push for it.
• Refund window: raise an issue within about 30 days of delivery, and inspect goods on arrival, since quality claims generally need to be opened within roughly a 15-day inspection period.
• Covers objective failures: late shipment or products that do not match the agreed order contract. It does not cover subjective dissatisfaction, so a clear written spec matters.
• Check the coverage amount: a supplier’s Trade Assurance limit may be lower than your order value, leaving part of a large order unprotected.

Only work with suppliers showing the Trade Assurance badge, and always pay through the platform.

Getting the Best Price on a Bulk Order

• Order a paid sample first to confirm quality before a large commitment.
• Message the supplier to negotiate the per-unit price, especially as quantity rises.
• Apply a working Alibaba code on top of the agreed price where the checkout allows it.
• Compare total landed cost, including shipping and any customs, not just the unit price.
